KB911567 Security update for Outlook Express

      04-13-2006
After downloading and installing KB911567, Outlook Express did not run
proberly. Got the message "Outlook Express configured improperly, address
book failed to load. Reinstall Outlook Express". On trying to read
messages, got the error message "There was an error opening this message. An
error occurred."
I uninstalled KB911567, and Outlook Express operated properly. Reinstalled
KB911567 and got the same results as before.
Anyone else have this problem?

Services at 1-866-PC SAFETY (1-866-727-2338). There is no
charge for support calls associated with security updates.

International customers can get support from their local Microsoft

Courtesy of MVP Mow Green:

Suggest you uninstall KB911567 from Add/Remove Programs in the Control
Panel. Then download the update from here for XP SP2:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...E-FB422A4E8096
or, here for XP SP1:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...3-6438CAD081DB
Close Internet Explorer before installing the update.
Temporarily disable the installed Antivirus program.
Install the update now.
Reenable the AV.
Did that resolve the issue ?

Carey, I called this number. Perhaps I got in the wrong cue, but the Indian
C.S. rep told me there was no phone support for this issue and I needed to go
online for help. Found that the response from PABear (next thread) did work.

Called the number above for tech support first, but that was a dead end.
Tried uninstalling the update and I was able to import a backup of the
address book back into OE. Decided to try this suggestion. Downloaded the
update from the link provided by PA Bear, installed. Address book still
there. Thank you ... Kristi
