This update appears in Windows Update for my Windows XP Media Center 2005
Edition. Since I live in the USA, I decided to try to determine if it is
needed for my system, or if it is unnecessary. I use Outlook 2003 for my
email.

I can not find any statement in the Knowledge Base articles to determine if
it is advisable for my system. Does anyone know the answer to if it is needed
for persons living outside of Australia?

Thanks,

Michele

You do not need or want it.

I had no choice - it arrived via auto update.

Thanks. I appreciate the feedback.

Updates like this one is the reason I do not have my updates automatically
applied. I just wish on fixes that are optional, Microsoft would be clearer
in either their descriptions or the Knowledge Base articles on the specific
audience the fix is required to be applied for proper functioning of their
PCs.

Found out by accident last week and wrote to Mow. Been off for awhile due to
major computer crash. Almost up and running again.
