have a brand new pc Athlon 64 dualcore 3800, 300gb, 2gb DDR, Asus A8N
Mobo, Nvidia GeoForce 6800. Windows Media Centre 2005 windows xp Home sp2
all updates. No worms, spyware, malware, viruses, trojans etc etc.

I went to download latest security update (KB912919) and it will not
install, why could that be? I have also noticed that all of the text has
disappeared from my Help and Support page leaving only the place markers
where the text should be.

Have a look into the KB912919.log file to be found in the Windows
folder and post some 30 lines from the bottom of the log file.

Hm, the following is an extract of the WindowsUpdate.log file and
*not* KB912919, true?

That seems to mean, that the AutoUpdate service isn't enabled or
running. Could you please check via Start -> services.msc whether
the Automatic Update service is configured to start automatically
and is running?

Note: The Automatic Update *service* doesn't have too much in
common with Automatic Updates!

If the Automatic Update service is running and set to start auto-
matically, then you may try to rename the "DataStore" folder to be
found as a subfolder of "SoftwareDistribution" which is a subfolder
of "Windows".

HTH,
Freudi

Hi Freudi,
Thanks for your help but I have resolved the issue. Apparently there is a
conflict with windows updates and Panda antivirus. Panda have a hotfix
(hfT50504s8) on their website which I have just installed and all is now
working fine. Thanks agian for your help
