Thanks. this works and checking for updates again shows no mor high piroty
updated require. However, if you click on the "Review your update History"
The history still shows all the previously failed installations and it does
not show that the update was successfully installed. The question here is:-
Is the update really installed? I guess it is, otherwise the initial search
for updates will highlight on updated that are required. But why does it not
show that it has been successfully installed????

You can check it in Add/Remove programs to see if it is there.
You might as well clear your update history Start-Run
%windir%\SoftwareDistribution , and clear the DATA and DOWLOAD files. It
worked for me. I couldn't install any updates till I did that. You can also
see what is installed there.

i just realized that this never downloaded...i went to nortons and they told
me nothing at all...did you uninstall this then reinstall??? please let me
