KB913446 AMAZING!! (??)

Yesterday KB913446 failed to install on my PC four times. I complained in
this discussion group, as did many, many other people. I asked if Microsoft
was listening. Maybe they were, because at 1PM today PST, (Wed. 2/15/05), I
went to Microsoft Update and the update installed perfectly without a hitch.

Did Microsoft change something? I certainly did not. I have not ever
rebooted since my last attempt last night.

One of Microsoft's own Support Techs told me he thought it was a problem on
the Update Server at Microsoft. I believe it was in the install routine in
the update. But today it works for me.

Has anyone else failed yesterday but had success today? If this has
happened to several people I will believe Microsoft quietly corrected the
problem.

Please let me, and all uf us here, know.

Thanks,

Bob Vaughan

If you go back and look at the headers in this group, you will see that
the issue was fixed and posted about at approx 1136pm Eastern time last
night.

I don't think it was quietly corrected, it was posted by an MVP that
Microsoft knew there was a problem and they were working on correcting it,
then soon after it was fixed and worked fine.

They must have corrected the problem yesterday afternoon, because I got
six updates last evening and 913436 was one of them.

If you still can not install the update, you have a different problem since
the problem many experienced yesterday, was resolved about 24 hours ago.

Download and install the update manually.
Does it install

The problem was on the update server, and MS fixed it about 8:30 PM PST
(Redmond/MS time). I would offer kudo's to the MS folks who acted quickly
to find and fix the problem once it was reported.

BTW, as for not rebooting your machine, not a good idea. At least one of
the updates required a reboot, and you should have complied.

I rebooted upon request, and even after four times I have not been successful.
