KB914784 breaks Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120% on x64

Title really says it all. I expect this was unintentional as Daemon
Tools is a recommended method for mounting MSDN ISO's, and is
unfortunately putting me in the position of having to turn off Windows
Update's automatic updating due to the creation of incompatibilities
with existing products.

I am also experiencing this problem, and it is affecting all virtual drive
software I have tried. Uninstall resolves it but as you say, no more windows
updates!

Why? Why not just decline that one update?
