I have a set of workstations (all XP SP2) receiving their updates from WSUS,
and they all continually download and install KB916281.
If a domain admin logs in, the update installs and then shows as installed
in WSUS reports, but when a standard user or local admin logs in again, the
update is reported as needed again!
I have tried many different ways of installing it, (via MBSA, wsus, manual
download, uninstalling first and using different logins)
I have removed the update KB912812 which was superseded by this in case that
was confusing it but KB916281 always returns!
The log files always look OK, because it does install OK each day, although
sometimes it reports this error "Setup encountered an error: The update.ver
file is not correct."
How can I make this patch stick permanently?
