Let's try this first ... go to Start > Run type in
msconfig
Click OK
Click the Startup tab
Is KB916595 listed ? If yes, then UNcheck the box next to it and then
restart the system.
Did setup run for KB916595 now ?
If it did, the update process uses the <UserAccount>Temp folder, so,
since you have hidden files, folders, and system files showing, navigate
to Documents and Settings\<UserAccount>\Local Settings\Temp
(<UserAccount> is the name of your UserAccount)
Move *all* of the contents of the Temp folder to the Recycle Bin.
Next, navigate to the WINDOWS\Software Distribution\Download folder.
Delete all contents of this folder.
Restart the system.
Did the setup run for KB916595 now ?
