KB917283 - Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 2

The Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 2.0 (KB917283)
doesn't seem to install. When I download the update from Microsoft Update, it
installs correctly, but appears again when i check for new updates. What
could be wrong, will I need to re-install Microsoft .NET Framework v2.0?

I'm having problems installing it too. Mine didn't say it installed
correctly though. It says failed. I tried uninstalling .Net framework and
ran some registry cleaning software and rebooted. Then tried to reinstall
..Net Framework and now the same thing is happening with trying to install the
v 1.1 update. Anyone have any ideas?

I have the same problem: 5 critical updates, only .Net Framework Version 2.0
update (KB 917283) refuses to be installed. What to do?

It fails for me also. According to the KB Article, It should not be trying to install since I have WinXP SP2

The MS06-033 bulletin mentions XP SP2 but the actual articles refer to XP
SP1 only. This needs to be clarified Microsoft!

dotnetfx.exe->repair) and reapplied via MU->works.

If you have problems with the update "KB917283 - Security Update for
Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 2", take a look here:

To more make it simply... Download the dotnetfx_cleanup_tool:
http://astebner.sts.winisp.net/Tools...eanup_tool.zip and
execute.

PC restart.

Executing Windows update. All the protection software should be
deactivated, explains itself by himself.

My PC is doing exactly the same thing as yours. I think though that the
issue is with the Download on teh MS Update site itself, since the download
size states "0 Bytes" and the down load time states "0 Minutes" I also have
my PC set to download automatic updates and now I have the Yellow Shield icon
in my notification tray all the time.

Tried this. Had to reinstall Ms 2.0 net framework, but after reinstallation
it took the update. Thanks!
