KB917422 Breaks Game Compatibility

Hi , I'm sure you folks know this by now, but I did not see it posted here.

The recent hotfix KB917422 breaks certain game compatibility (FEAR, MM-Dark
Messiah Demo ) were the ones affected. Both games failed to execute from the
desktop.

I have not read a solution for this one yet - mind you there are so many
threads I just have not had the time to read them all yet - hang in there -
the doctor will see you soon.
