Under Windows XP SP2 with MediaPlayer 10 installed I get the following
failure message ...

Updates were unable to be successfully installed
The following updates were not installed:
Security Update for Windows Media Player 10 for Windows XP (KB917734)

There is a system event that says ...

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with
error 0x80070003: Security Update for Windows Media Player 10 for Windows XP
(KB917734).

The update remains queued for installation and will fail each time it is
attempted.

What is the correction for this condition?
