Yes, 2 virus scanners and 3 spyware scanners were used to be sure
since, as you suspected, this was my first conclusion. Windows XP
Pro SP2, all updates. It still could be a conflict between a program
or driver on my computer and the Windows update change but all works
fine after removing the update.
