KB918439 unable to be successfully installed

For some reason, this update will not install. No error message other than
"Updates were unable to be successfully installed". No hints, no nothing.

Repeat attempts get the same result. Other updates work fine.

Any ideas?


On a related note, searching for help on the Windows Update site always says
"Sorry, no results were found that match the criteria you entered." It
doesn't matter what criteria I enter, I get the same result every time.
What's up with that?

Yes, I'm doing updates on a new computer.

I fixed it by rebuilding the SoftwareUpdates folder.

That's good news - I hope you are up to date with the Sept lot.
To get through what must be 50-60 criticals since SP2, and to have one
problem is very good indeed.
KB918439 caused a few probs.
