KB922770 problem error 0x80070643

I've tried to download several times. All of today's updates installed fine
except this one. From windowsupdatelog: Anyone have a suggestion? Thanks

I have this very same problem and so far no answer to it. Maybe someone here
knows more about this mess than I do. This kind of thing has happened before
with net framework and now I do not remember what I did to fix it. I just

I had the same problem. Had to uninstall Net 2.0. and all Net security
updates (I had one), reboot computer, then reinstall Net 2.0 and then
download and install the latest security update. This worked for me.

KB922770 isn't installing for me either. When I go back into Windows Update,
it shows that it hasn't installed (error code 0x669 - whatever that is), but
it isn't available to try again. When I checked Add/Remove Programs, it
appears to be installed. However, when I try to remove it, the process just
hangs.

I get the same thing. Then I looked in WindowsUpdate.log and noticed
something that didn't look right--the download URL associated with this
update:

URL = http://rs.rs.rs.rs.update.microsoft.com/odf/v6odf.xml

The "rs.rs.rs.rs" portion of that URL looked strange to me. Not
necessarily wrong, but suspicious. I looked elsewhere in the log for
updates that had succeeded, and they have this URL:

URL = http://rs.update.microsoft.com/odf/v6odf.xml

In any event, the advice suggested in
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/883821 is useless for me...

Also, downloading and running the 922770 update manually didn't work for
me either:

The updater asks me if I want to install it, I click OK. Then I accept
the EULA, and ... nothing more seems to happen. The patch's logs are
huge, and while I find errors in them, I haven't made heads or tails of
any of them.

FYI: Uninstalling/reinstalling .NET 2.0 didn't help me. The KB922770
update still failed to install.

uninstall and reinstall Net 2.0. worked for me !

I can't understand this:

why have so many people problems with installing the updates? Maybe by
installing "illegal software"?

I never had any problems with installing the updates!
Also NOT with KB922770 (installed it this morning)!

I have a legal copy of Windows XP Home (English) and the "Security Update for
Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 2.0 (KB922770)" does not install for me. So
no, it is not due to illegal software.
