On this computer, just discovering problems that started Nov 17, when I tried
to d/l
KB923789. It failed that day, although other updates that day were
sucessfully installed. Many more times, the automatic download failed.
Meanwhile, from that day, no other updates will show up, so I think I'm
sitting on a machine unpatched since Nov 17th here. KB923789 failed to
install. Tried reinstalling flash player as forum suggested.

When I go to update.microsoft.com, it claims that it is missing registered
files that are required for me to perform the update at update.microsoft.com.
If I try to register them it appears to successfully complete, and then it
takes me around a circle back to the beginning and then says I am missing the
registered files, etc. etc.

This is critical here, should I just scrap the OS and tried to boot Windows
over again? Is there a similar problem? I couldn't find one scanning the
boards.

Can't seem to find the place where I can uninstall my updates any more
without using System Restore.

I'm replying to my own post because this is ridiculous. I scrapped my OS,
restarted from factory XP settings (Acer's settings) I see 74 updates at
update.microsoft.com, download them all, install them. I said no to Internet
Explorer 7, because I don't want it. KB923789 failed again. Now the SAME
EXACT ERROR HAS OCCURRED AGAIN. I CAN AGAIN NO LONGER DOWNLOAD UPDATES.

Found previous post with similar problem. Got myself back onto
update.microsoft.com by re-registering a dll file:

Typed at command line (Run): regsvr32 msxml3.dll

Haven't resolved KB923789, moving on for now.
