This patch installs successfull but then installs again and again (about 10
times already). I also had Problems with KB 925486; I got Error Messages
0x8007F0F4 and 0x80242008 (I know where this one comes from - I moved the
program files directory to another partition).

Post by Daniel Kaplan in another group.

Ok, below is the reply I got from Microsoft, and it appears to have worked.
I say appears because:

- two of the 4 files they mentioned were not on my machine.
- the update does not appear in my Add/Remove programs, however when I look
online (Windows Update) it says I have it installed.
- as well, I no longer get the Update icon.

I am not posting this for EVERYONE to just use it, I make no warranties that
this works, or whatever. However there are people in these groups that know
a lot! I figure they can read it, know what these files do, etc. I figure
they might be able to read this, and figure out what this solution did.

As well, I say might because twice aftwards, I would swear that to shut down
my machine I had to say shutdown TWICE in a row. No longer, but I would
swear I had to.

Anyway, here it is.

Dear Sergio,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Windows Update Support. My name is Raiden
and I am glad to work with you. To contact me, you may send emails directly

2. Locate the file named Nwapi32.dll and rename it to Nwapi32.old
3. Please repeat the above steps with another files:

Nwprovau.dll

The .dll files are located in WINDOWS\system32
The .sys is located in WINDOWS\system32\drivers

Step 4: Reinstall KB923980 again

Und hier ist wieder der Hinweis auf
http://patch-info.de/WinXP/2006/11/14/17-33-20.html und die dortigen
"Anmerkungen". Ein deutschsprachiger Name in Verbindung mit einem
freenet-Kunden lässt mich annehmen, dass Du der deutschen Sprache
mächtig bist ;-)

[Sorry Guys, since he's posting via a German ISP and has a name which
looks German, I answered in German - an hope he's capable of reading
the answer this time ;-(]

Bye,

I talked to Microsoft support and their fix did not work. Then I found this
string of postings and tried the following piece. It worked great.
Thanks for the help. Too bad Microsoft search and support are not better.
If Microsoft's own search would just come up with this data, instead I had to
find it with Google.

Step 3: Rename the corrupt file
============================
1. Navigate to WINDOWS\system32
2. Locate the file named Nwapi32.dll and rename it to Nwapi32.old
3. Please repeat the above steps with another files:

Nwprovau.dll
Nwwks.dll
Nwrdr.sys
