I am having the same problems that everyone else is having with this update.
It says you have updates, you install this one...After the install, it once
again says that I updates...(the little yellow icon.) Any suggestions...???

XP Pro or XP Home Edition ?
If XP Pro, uninstall it from Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel,
if listed.
Navigate to the WINDOWS\system32 folder and rename Nwapi32.dll to
Nwapi32.old

Download the update from -
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en

Save it, close the browser, install it, and then restart the system.

Thanx MowGreen this has done the trick for me.
Could you please state what the exact problem is ...

Because after the updates installed with windows update manager my network
card could get an ip adres when I don't even use a novell client. So this is
what borders me most... I don't use it and still it blocks something.

Greetings

Chris

Interestengly enough, I can’t find this updated in installed programs to
uninstall!!!
I checked all my computers at home and office and found only Adobe reader
and Java auto-updates as a link between them. Can these two be a problem?

Kirk ... which nw_____.dll files are present in WINDOWS\system32 ?
Is Spybot installed ?

#1 Uninstall KB923980 via Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel
("Show Updates")
NOTE: If it's not listed in Add/Remove Programs then check in
WINDOWS\$hf_mig$ for $NtUninstallKB923980$
First, show hidden files, folders, and system files :
http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html
Navigate to the $NtUninstallKB923980$ folder and open it, then open the
spuninst folder and run spuninst.exe
(If there is no $NtUninstallKB923980$ folder then it *never* installed)

#2 Download the update via

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en

#3 Save the file into a folder without executing it yet, e.g. in
C:\Downloads
#4 Execute the following command under "Run" in the Start menu:

C:\Downloads\WindowsXP-KB923980-x86-ENU.exe /o

#5 Restart Windows

That was command was posted by Ottmar Freudenberger, the world famous
Windows Update guru NOTE there is a space after the .exe and /o

Here is what FINALLY worked for me after a few dozen attempts.

Rename the following files in windows/sys32
nwapi32.dll to nwapi32.old
nwprovau.dll to nwprovau.old
nwwks.dll to nwwks.old (May be all caps was in my folder)

I then UNINSTALLED the update in add remove programs (be sure the show
updates checkbox is checked)
A reboot will be required with the uninstall.
After the reboot I simply clicked the Shield showing updates were ready to
install.
After the installation and another reboot (required) all was fixed.

A real shame for MS since I dont use or expect to use Netware clients so why
would this be a needed update?
