Since the installation of this update I'm being notified (system tray) to
update.
It is always KB923980 over and over again.
I was forced to diconnect the automatic update to have peace.
Any idea?
I don´t see here this situation so I'm lost.
Best regards.

Problem solved (at least in the last 15 minutes).
I disconnected my Panda firewall and made the download again.

It happens also to me. I also disconnected my firewall (F-Secure) and
re-installed the update but it doesn't help. Who can help us to get rid of
this MS-update-plague?

Gerrit.

Sensible suggestion by Mow Green.

To everyone who has pitched in on this thread ... hang in there, I'm
attempting to get someone from MS to check out this thread -

Subject : KB 923980 wants to be installed ever and ever again ?
Date : 11/15
Author : Crazy-Chris

For now I'd suggest uninstalling the update from Add/Remove Programs in
the Control Panel.
When the update is offered to be installed again, uncheck the box next
to it and click OK, then put a check in the box next to " Do not notify
me ... "

In order to see the above dialogue Automatic Updates should be set to
either " Download the updates ... let me choose when to install them "
or " Notify me but don't automatically download or install them "

Right click My Computer on the Desktop or Start Menu, choose Properties.
Click the Automatic Updates tab to access the options.

OR, one can access Windows Update or MS Update and hide the update there.

SOLVED. Scroll down to the bottom of this site.
http://www.amset.info/windows/auto-updates.asp
Reinstall the automatic updates service, or do all three, reset, repair
and reinstall, which I did.
An excellent helpful website I came across whilst sorting out the
windows update 100% CPU bug.

It seems that already a lot of users have the same problem. Somewhere it was
suggested that it has something to do with IE7. I have upgraded to IE7 so it
sounds plausible. Please report if you have installed IE7 too.

Gerrit.

PS. It's remarkable that MS didn't react yet.

After I installed IE7, the bad update is still trying to get installed
again. I expect by now several thousand MS employees have this same problem.

keeps coming back!!!
