OK, I probably brought this on myself. Updated everything last week; no
problems. On Saturday, installed IE7 RC1. On Sunday, was troubleshooting a
problem with Blue Screen Stop errors. Tried to unistall IE7 - and the
computer blue-screened in the middle of it.
Company IT figured that the problem was a bad motherboard and swapped same.
Tried to uninstall IE7 - it wasn't listed in the add/remove. Oops.
Reinstalled, but couldn't uninstall IE7. Oh, well. Play System Restore back
to the point where IE7 was installed, Saturday. That worked. Maybe.
Now, when going to Windows Update, it says I have to install 925672. Every
time I try, it fails, with Error Code 0x64C.
From other folks having problems with this update, cleaned out
system32\catroot2 and %windir%\SoftwareInstallation\Download. Still get the
problem.
Is this system hosed and a reformat is necessary, or is there some way
around this problem? Help!
