I'm updating an old computer and the above security update keeps failing.
I can see that there have been issues with this update but I'm not sure how
to resolve the problem.

Which Zone Labs product is installed ? That is what's causing the
installation failure as it's blocking the query to the registry. Here's
a snippet from the KB925902.log on my XP Pro box:

You can go through ZA's settings and see what is blocking the update
from installing, totally disable ZA and enable the native Windows
firewall for now, or, uninstall ZA.
Or, post on their General forum:
