Error code 0x8007F004 also translates to
You do not have permission to update . Please contact your system
administrator.

You mention that you attempted to install the update manually. Did you
download it from here -
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

or run the local copy that was previously downloaded via Automatic Updates?
Suggest you manually download the file, close the browser and any other
program that is open.
*Right* click WindowsXP-KB925902-x86-ENU.exe and choose 'Run as'
If you're User Account has Admin rights, then choose it.
If you can, choose the Administrator account instead just to see if it
wll install.

I really can't tell from the KB925902.log just what is going on, but it
is *substantially* different from the ones I've seen on XP Pro/MCE systems.

>> 14.125: Downloading 8 files

AFAIK, that should show 'Downloading 0 files '
It just may be that either Norton is preventing it from
downloading/installing OR, System Restore may have been disabled.
Is SR disabled ?

Yep i have system restore disabled, and i tried to install it manually from
the source that you gave in that post with norton turned off, but i still get
the same errors.. I haven't have any problems with previous updates though
i'm keeping system restore disabled. I disabled the windows update process
from services 'cos it keeps notifying me that i should install that update
although it fails install it..

I am using XP home SP2 and getting the same error. The update is
downloade with the same error message you reported and refuses to
install. I do not have realtex audio on my system.

From my experiences (which *a lot of* others share):
Deactivating Symandrecks Yellow Package Saftware (aka "Norton") "may"
not be enough, while uninstalling that potential source of problems
of any kind at least temporary _may_ most likely.

If there's any other "Security", "AntiSpyware", "AntiAdware" application
and/or "Tuning Tool" is running in the background, you "may" have to
shut down these completely too.

If you hestitate, you may want try to install KB925902 in Safe Mode of
Windows XP: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315222

Okay, now i've tried to install it with norton and spybot processes
compeletly killed, it gave me same error. I booted in safemode and tried to
install in safe mode, still same error. I downloaded it again from microsoft
site and tried everything allover again, but didn't help neither.

If you still have some tricks up in your sleeve it would be nice to hear.
Because i don't wanna use computer that has vulnerabilities..

Apparently, there is a registry subkey being protected by Spybot that
will not allow this EXTREMELY IMPORTANT update to install.
When you say the 'spybot processs' was completely killed, are you
referring to SDHelper, TeaTimer, or Immunization ALL being totally
disabled ?

Tell ya what, open the KB925902.log located in %windir% and scroll all
the way down the end of it. Those are the most recent entries.
See if there are any Sys admin or Access Denied errors listed.
If so, post back with the section of the log where they are located.
If we can't determine which subkey is being 'protected', then strongly
suggest you run RegMon during the install process and hopefully we can
figure out what's blocking it.

Error code 0x8007F004 also translates to
You do not have permission to update . Please contact your system
administrator.

Post the latter part of the KB925902.log which is located in the WINDOWS
directory [folder] into your reply, please.
Which security software/antivirus is installed on the system ?
Apparently, there is a registry subkey that is being 'guarded' and is
preventing the update from installing.
