Have XP Pro w/SP2 and all other updates. Installed KB925902 and lost the
ability to view graphics on some web pages and could not log-on to password
protected sites. (Even tried to use Opera to go to the same web sites and it
failed too.) Removed it and things reverted back as they had been.

Tried my XP Home w/SP2 system and got the same problem.

Will not install again until a fix is made.

Did you install the post hotfix?

To set your expectations Jerry, at this point it time no one knows what
web sites, or graphic pages you are talking about. So unless you call
in, get a repro, if you have some software that is somewhat unique it's
a bit hard to expect that any one of us will be able to fix a patch when
at the present time you haven't given many data points to know?

Based on all the other problems I see posted here concerning that same
update/patch/fix I see no reason to expand on anything.
The patch is causing more problems than the one I mentioned.

Do you feel better now?

> The patch is causing more problems than the one I mentioned.

KB925902 is not known to cause the problem you've -ehm- didn't have
described. But there are very well known security problems on your
system if don't install KB925902 for whatever reason.

"I experienced the issue on my home computer - when I used a program called
"HTML Lock" to apply a password and encryption to some web pages, I got the
error something to the effect that "...<forget name>.OCX is trying to
occupy memory normally used by Windows DLL Files..." I applied the hotfix
and the program worked normally. The computer is an HP."

Try the hotfix
If you are not willing to install that, then we cannot help.

There are known issues with the patch and so far everyone is fixing them
with the hotfix that will be coming out on Tuesday.

Install it. If it doesn't help, come back.

I had installed both KB925902 and KB935448. Then I tried to log-on to
password protected web pages and the problems started. I uninstalled
KB935448 and the problem persisted. I then uninstalled KB925902 and the
problem went away.

If you had opted to even read my original posting you would have seen a
problem described. I was not able to log-on to password protected sites; as
I reported above.

Security problems may be 'fixed' if I install it but as it screws with my
being able to get to certain web pages then what have I gained?

Also, the description for KB935448 says it fixes an issue with the Realtek
HD Audio Control Panel - which I do not have and that's why it was the first
thing I uninstalled when my problems occured.

There's no description, really.

And the error messages?
Please (re)install KB925902 and afterwards KB935448 with _no_
application running and reboot your machine afterwards.

If you still have trouble after that procedure, call MS PSS.

Not only, more examples: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925902/en-us
and the "known isses" there. KB935448 fixes problems reffering to
hhctrl.ocx, even if the applications/problems aren't mentioned in
any of the two relevant MSKB articles yet.

Ehm, pardon, but *why* did you have KB935448 installed? It's not
offered via AU/MU/WU yet, as you know.

Freudi
