STOP 0x00000035 (0x8207ecd8, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
NO_MORE_IRP_STACK_LOCATIONS

Getting this consistently on systems with Roxio version 8.x when trying to
save to word, excel documents, etc to DFS fileshares after installing the
KB925902 security update.

Finding that un-install of patch does not help. Trying System Restore.

We do find that if we un-install Roxio ver 8 or upgrade to ver 9 that
problem does not happen.

We're getting Stop errors after this update too. We're running Roxio 6.
Mini dump points to Mup.sys

BugCheck 44, {888a4008, d63, 0, 0}

Probably caused by : Mup.sys ( Mup!DfsCompleteRequest_Real+1a )

Followup: MachineOwner

Installed Security Update for Windows XP (KB925902) on 4/3/07 and now Outlook
Express is down. Trying to re-configure with no success. Also lost yEnc
software.

Whatever Windows version you're using:
Have you asked in http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php already?

We're getting the same issue - when any XP client tries to write to a DFS
Namespace fileshare, we get the "NO_MORE_IRP_STACK_LOCATIONS" bluescreen.

We use Win2k3 servers, WinXP clients, client computers have Novell Netware
and Symantec Antivirus installed (which goes with the MUP/IRP stack
overflow).

Prior to April 5th, 2007 this was not an issue. A recent patch must have
been deployed to cause this behavior (that's my best guess as of now). Our
enviornment had been stable for nearly 6 months before April 5th, now all our
client computers are blue-screening.

Any ideas or updates to this issue? I found KB:906866 that kind of relates,
but after applying the hotfix the issue was NOT resolved.

Please help!!

Well - after doing more digging, it looks as though KB916846 was the culprit.
This patch (addressing an SMB communication issue) is responsible for
causing a "NO_MORE_IRP_STACK_LOCATIONS" overflow blue-screen when client
computers write to a DFS namespace.

I hope there is a fix/patch soon for this!

Ry

We had the same problem on Windows XP systems after Symantec Corporate
10.x Antivirus updated on Wednesday night. Saving any office document
to a DFS drive caused the NO_MORE_IRP_STACK_LOCATIONS blue screen.

We applied KB906866 hotfix after contacting microsoft to get it, but
the KB article contains slightly incorrect directions. You have to
click Decimal before typing in the "10" value, otherwise Regedit
converts the 10 hex into 16 decimal, which results in the blue screens
continuing to happen. A Decimal value of 10 solved the problem for us
after applying the hotfix.

Something about the virus definitions seemed to trigger the problem,
as removing Symantec Corporate 10 and reinstalling with the
definitions that come on the CD ROM worked fine... Only after getting
updated definitions (and an updated scan engine which is activated on
reboot) did the problem reoccur.

We had the same issue on about 6 machines and the hotfix with clicking
decimal first works.
Thanks very much
