After the update from 04/04/07 on boot my computer keeps telling me that:
- user32.dll was relocated in memory
- the sound works for a moment, e.g. if I start mediaplayer
- then svchost.exe crashes with a memory violation
- windows does not recognize the sound card anymore (mediaplayer keeps
telling, that I do not have a sound device anymore)
- the windows xp look&feel changes back to something that looks like windows
3.11 and then reverts after a while half way back to the windows xp
look&feel. half way, because, e.g. the task bar stays gray, but the buttons
are blue and round again

I do not have any programs installed that change the look&feel of windows.
The sound card however uses a realtek driver, so I applied the hotfix in
hope, it would cure these errors, but the hotfix did not change anything
except the first user32.dll error is gone. Next I uninstalled the hotfix and
the security patch, but still, everything except the first error message is
the same.

This is seems to be a really messed up patch - thanks for that... how can I
fix the system again?

OK, as usual after hours of trying, when I finally post a question somewhere,
I find the solution minutes later...

I uninstalled all programs which I thought might make trouble (kind of
everything starts upon system startup). Then I uninstalled the security patch
and the hotfix.
Then cleaned the startup registry and removed everything unnecessary. After
that I installed just what I "need" for the system to run, installed the
security patch and the hotfix without booting in between. And now everything
seems to work fine (knocking on wood).

Well I have seen this problem, and it seems to do with Vista compatible
computers. It seems that in preperation for Vista, it moves the user32.dll
and puts the realtek dll in its place. I haven't found a patch or a hot fix
for it yet. It seems Microsoft says upgrade to Vista or just deal with the
error.

Hello,

I have encountered this issue as well. It appears to happen on PC's that
have the realrek sound drivers. I uninstalled the sound drivers and included
software. Then reinstalled the latest software. this made the issue go away.
By the way this happend on an HP desktop and a Sony Laptop. Both had realtek
sound system. Hope this helps.
