KB927779 fails to install

I have two machines both 2000 sp4 that fail to install KB927779 via SMS or
manual install.
I turned off anti-virus protection and tried manual install - same issue.

Ignore the title. Although it refers to MDAC I suspect the meaning of codes
could be the same and analogous resolutions could be done for your product.

For example:

In fact, since a good portion of the log seems to be concerned with
actual MDAC modules and versions, perhaps you should consider
making sure that it is as up-to-date and consistent as it can be.
You could use the MDAC Component Checker to help with that
analysis.

BTW since you have downloaded and installed the update manually
your problem symptoms are now independent of WU.
So you may get more informed help from a newsgroup which specializes
in the product being updated, e.g. on either the newsgroups or the MSDN
