2 or 3 days ago, WU asked me to install the update below, but, when done
(without error, because a successful mesage appeared), WU suggested it
again... I accepted 6 times, now, I checked the option telling that I don't
want to be borrow again about this update, but I would like to find someone
that can help me to solve the problem correctly...

Thanks

Franck,

I had this problem with this update (and another that is now superceded).
Go to page 6 in this list of strings and look at one first posted on
2/17/2007 : it will start KB927978 and KB925672 fail to install. Follow the
advice of MowGreen given on 2/19/2007 and 2/21/2007. It has sorted my
installation.

All the best,
Carol

Thanks for you're answer, but I think I didn't understand the meaning of
page 6 because of my english skill.. but, if it' about the news list, the
size of a page depends on the size of the screen, the window, ... so, I
can't count as you the same number of page... and more, I haven't any
message before mine...

So could you simply copy and paste it for me? It will be very nice from you.

Best regards,
Franck

Franck,

This is the advice I was given regarding the 2 files I couldn't install. I
had tried to manually install them on a previous occasion without success.
So I just followed the link he gave me and downloaded just the KB927978 file
again and followed his instructions about restarting, removing, restarting,
installing and restarting - and it worked.

One thing I found was that whilst the updates were constantly being offered,
no other updates were. So, once installed, I then found I had a dozen or so
new ones to do.

Anyway here is the advice from MowGreen:

There is NO need to install KB925672. KB927978 supercedes it.
Are either of the updates listed in Add/Remove Programs in the Control
Panel ? [Make sure that the 'Show updates' box is checked at the top]

Did you download KB927978 manually, save it, and then attempt to install
it ?
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
If not suggest you attempt that. When you do, ***make sure*** that the
system is RESTARTED PRIOR to attempting to install it.
If 3 options are presented, Modify/Repair/Remove, choose Remove.
If you are prompted to, restart the system.
If not, run msxml4-KB927978-enu.exe once more and it *should* install.
If yes, then restart and then run msxml4-KB927978-enu.exe

Dear MowGreen,

Thank you! I followed your instructions to the letter and, although I
cannot find the KB927978 listed as installed on my PC, Windows update now no
longer tries to offer it as one I should download. KB 925672 is also no
longer offered, so it looks as if you have solved my problem.

Many thanks once again.
Carol

First, thanks for your answer... but unfortunately, this is correcting my
problem....

I still get the message suggesting me to innstall MSXM4. What I discover is
that the directory: c:\program filesmsxml 4.0\ is empty, after the
installation.

Is it normal?

Finally I managed to get it installed, it seems... When I installed it
manually, I always selected personnal install, and I always get the
suggestion to install the update. BUT, the last time, I chooe automatic
install and it works... it's a little bit strange, but it's done!

thanks all.

I have tried everything. When I tried to run the exe downloaded file it
stated that my Windows Installer was bad...how do I fix this? It worked
previously until 927978 came along.
