I found out about this update only by chance!

Why is it not listed at WU and MU?

Shouldn't it come via Automatic Updates?

And after downloading/installing, why does it NOT show up in my update
history?

Ask Microsoft directly, i.e. via http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/default.aspx

It's not intended to be distributed via the Update mechanisms yet.
Why? See above.

Cause the Update History on the Windows/Microsoft Update site lists
updates, which have been installed via Windows/Microsoft/Auto Update
only.

But you can find the upadte via "Software" in the control Panel
after you've enabled the "Show updates" option. It's listed under
the "Windows Internet Explorer 7" section.

Bye,

This update gives various versions to download, including:
Win XP with service pack 2 x86 based
Win XP Professional x64 based

I'm running XP Professional, so I assume I need the second one.
Looked in My Computer (Properties) but it doesn't tell me whether it's x86
or x64.
It just says:

Microsoft Windows XP
Professional
Version 2002
Service Pack 2

Belarc Advisor tells me it is Build 2600.

How do I find out if I'm x64 or x86?

Also, it seems strange that XP Pro is only x64, while Windows XP is rated
x86. I thought Pro was the higher level product.

So you're running x86 (32Bit version) of Windows XP Pro. Otherwise you'ld
know that you're running the infamous 64Bit version.

> Also, it seems strange that XP Pro is only x64,

Windows XP 64 Bit is only available as Windows XP *Professional* 64Bit.
There's no Home Edition of 64 Bit versions of Windows XP.

> while Windows XP is rated x86.

Since there's no difference in 32 Bit version of Windows XP between
Home Edition and Professional looking to it from technical perspective,
there are no different update version needed for Windows XP Home Edition
or Professional (32Bit - the standard version).

If you don't already know you're running x64, you're probably not. (You
would've paid Big Buck$ for it.)

So has anyone installed this update?
And does it help speed-up IE7 for those who have maybe older and slower
PC's?

Also, would anyone know if this update will be added to Windows update in
due time?

Thanks,

Richard In VA.

A1. I've installed it.

A2. It does appear to speed things up, IN RE phishing filter.

A3. Dunno but I'd be surprised if it wasn't included in the first Cumulative
Update for IE7.

Thank-you PA Bear!

So I might already have it and don't know it?

YW.

No, you must download/install it manually right now. IOW 928089 is not
being offered by Windows Update or Automatic Updates at this time.

The computer may respond very slowly as the Phishing Filter evaluates Web
page contents in Internet Explorer 7:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928089

NB: A restart will not be required if all IE windows are closed prior to
installing it.
