Hi guys.If you uninstall .Net Framework 1.1 and any associated Hotfix you can
then go to Microsoft Update and simultaniously re install a total of Three
Optional Updates.Go for Custom installation Three consecutive times.I did not
have to restart. It would appear that the old Hotfix is the Problem.......Good
Luck,

Great stuff.Worked for me .I uninstalled the 1.1 NET framework and this
automatically removes the hotfix and the service pack update.
I then dealt with the problem of the update icon still showing in task
bar.I clicked to install and as there is no .NET framework present it
automatically removes itself.
Restart computer and just go to windows update website and download the
..NET framework 1 then the Service Pack 1 and lastly the KB928366 update and
all should be fine again. Cheers for info to get me started. Scotty.

Thanks for the advice. I am sure trying to do this. I tried to uninstall .NET
framework 1.1, but I keep getting the message: "Installation source not
available. Verify source exists and that you can access it." How can I do
this? Suggestions?

Read, download and install http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/
remove the .NET Framework 1.1 from there and reinstall .NET 1.1
afterwards from scratch.

Bye,
Freudi

One fix that worked for me...
I have "My Documents" folder on an external drive. I was trying to
install this update with this drive disconnected and received the
error message. Once I re-connected the drive, the install went
smoothly
Good luck!

Download Windows Install Cleanup Utility by following the article
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 and remove any other versions
of .Net framework showing up in cleanup utility.

Also download the Net Framework cleanup tool from
http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archi...08/406671.aspx and you
can download the tool from the left side of the page under the section
"USEFUL TOOLS".

DOTNETFX (1.1)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

..NET FRAMEWORK 1.1 Service pack 1
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

got windowsupdate.microsoft.com and do the updates kb928366..

I'm sorry but could somebody tell me how to verify if I have .NET Framework
1.1 Service Pack 1 (SP1) installed please?

In Add or Remove Programs, I can see I already have the following installed.

Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0 Hotfix (KB930494)
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Hotfix (KB928366)

I have Windows XP Media Center 2005 SP2.

Thanks.
