KB929729 Windows Update Failure

I have a new lap top with Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit and of course
have the Code 66A error for installing .NET 1.1 patch. I tried following
Peter Bromberg's easy fix but for some reason can't access the cleanup
tool he recommends at

(http://astebner.sts.winisp.net/Tools...eanup_tool.zip)

Also in most other free cleanup software I get an error indicating it's
not set up for 64 bit operating.

One thing I noitce is that under my list of software I have
Microsoft.NET Framework 3.5 SP1 so it doesn't look like I even have 1.1
on my system. Shoudl I maybe uninstall 3.5?

Any help for a novice would be appreciated

I would leave it alone for now:
Note Most of the time, you can use the latest version of the .NET Framework
to run applications that were created by using earlier versions of the .NET
Framework.
