Me: Michael, My: Windows XP MCE 2005 SP2 on Dell Inspirion E1505.
Security Update for Windows XP (KB931261), and its related link article
MS07-019, speaks of UPnP service "Universal Plug and Play Device Host", i.e.
disabling as work-a-round, Local Service vs Local SYSTEM, etc.
MSO7-019 link article:

Q1. It doesn't say should set to LocalSYSTEM or what to do if can't, get
error (due to other services log in user settings). ?
Q2: Article doesn't mention the service "SSDP Discovery Service" with
description: "Enables discovery of UPnP device on your home network".
Isn't this related and thus has same or similar problems?
Note: The service "Media Center Extender Service" depends on this (and my
computer insistes on the latter).
Note: I don't have a "home" network; only one computer, dialup, "workgroup".
I did install the update sucessfully, so maybe points moot. Still services
user errors, etc, worry me. Note also, don't use MCE.
I've seen a "default for services" page, but not complete or up to date. Is
there a new or better one?
Is there a way I can write to text file service state/user etc? (maybe viia
"sc" commands?)
