Hi,

i have a problem with kb931784. An update is always asked for this
file. I do it many time (it is asked even when i turn my pc off). But
i have'nt any message, saying it was be done correctly or not.
I tried something different : after downloading the file from Microsft
and tryed to install i have this message: "Setup cannot update your
windows XP files because the language installed on your system is
different from the update language". I tried it selecting either
"French" or "English" for the download. The result is always the same.
Is there anyone who can help me ?

many thanks for your help.

So your Windows XP SP2 is running in French? If true:

Try downloading the update manually via DownloadCenter:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=fr

*Save* the file to a folder your harddisk (let me call it "C:\Downloads"),
do *not* execute it from within your browser.

Afterwards type the following under "Run" in the Start menu:
"C:\Downloads\WindowsXP-KB931784-x86-FRA.exe" /o

The parameter "/o" (o like overwriteOEM) should do the trick for you.
Note the blank between the last quote sign and the parameter /o!

Bye,
Freudi

Manny thanks Freudi, but it's still the same. I modified the name of
the file: WindowsXP-KB931784-x86-ENU.exe in WindowsXP-KB931784-x86-
FRA.exe and modified the command in "C:\WindowsXP-KB931784-x86-
FRA.exe" /o. But it doesn't work. I obtain the same message. Will i
try to download the file (if exist) WindowsXP-KB931784-x86-FRA.exe ?

Hi there,

You are trying to install an English update on a French xp which won't work.

Download the French update.

Pardon? If you've clicked on the above link and then chose "Telecharger"
on that site, you should get the french version of KB931784. Only *this*
version is the one that's made for French Windows XP SP2 systems. Please
download the file above. No need to rename it afterwards. Simply follow
the instructions.

Bye,
Freudi

You may have to wait for some minutes after the neccessary reboot
of Windows before AU recognizes KB931784 beeing installed completely.
