KB933579 (XML 6.0) Won't Install- Error 0x02

Good Day,

I'm trying to install "Security Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 6.0
and Microsoft XML Core Services 6.0 Service Pack 1 (KB933579)" via Windows
Update. It simply won't install.

Same reults after multiple attempts: Installation Failure Error Code:
0x02

I've tried to manually download and install- It starts extracting, I then
get an Extraction Failed- The system cannot find the file specified.

I downloaded the Windows Updater Cleanup Tool (msicuu2.exe)- I get a Windows
Script Host error box-

Error: The system cannot find the file specified.
Code: 80070002
Source: (null)

I was getting the same error and code (0x02) with the XML 4.0 update as
well. I found some instructions from MowGreen and deleted a msixxx file. The
xml 4.0 error disappeared, but now the xml 6 update error is persistent.

I have a Compaq w/AMD Atlon XP 2.10 Ghz; Windows XP Home Edition Service
Pack 2 (build 2600).

See if there is an installation log written to %windir% [ the WINDOWS
directory/folder ]
The MSXML 4 update wrote a log named msxml4-KB936181-enu.LOG

Hi MowGreen,

Thanks for your reply. Since I posted this, I was able to go back and use
Systems restore to an earlier point where I knew things (XP) was running ok.
This alleviated the problem.
