kb935839 update

after installing this security update. i can no longer play any mepeg movies
or avi files in any player wmp has sound but thats all. reinstalled mwp and
new codec pack no help. uninstaling upadate all is well again. i have now
stoped the auto updates to prevent this update installing. Any one know of a
fix or work around for this ??

Vista or XP?

Have you checked the video driver? Tried using compatibility mode?

o/s windows xp pro with geforce 7600 g.card.

video driver seems fine, updated drivers just incase but i still get the
same problem after installing update kb935839(sound but no video on wmp, nero
player, windvd player and vlc player just crashes and sends a report to m
soft). tryed installing wpm 11. but still the same. As soon as i uninstall
update kb935839 All is ok again.

What version of Nero? My recent experience with the software which came with
DVD player - CPU usage 99%
No sound attempting a music CD
Plus, they don't offer a Free Upgrade to new users

I uninstalled the software.

You might try the same, install the KB then reinstall the Nero software.

I, too, am having the problem with this update causing my TV tuner/Media
Center to stop working. Dell told me it is not their problem (computer under
warranty) and to call Microsoft. So far have not found any solutions. Funny
how a $6000 machine cannot be "fixed" by it's manufacturers.
