This month, KB960225 was released. It supercedes KB935840. Servers
that already had KB935840 on them didn't seem to need KB960225. Can
someone explain why?

Thanks!

To what Windows Server versions do you refer?

Are you saying these machines aren't offered KB960225 (MS09-007)?

Do the machines update via WSUS or...?

The machines are Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition.

I do use WSUS. However, they also aren't offered 960225 going to
Windows Update.

You may have a detection problem. All of my servers needed 960225.

I looked through the updates that were install in Add/Remove. Any
server that already had KB935840 did not install the newer update.
Servers built after this update was released and don't have it
(another question) all needed 960225.

Strange...

Not really WSUS specific, but ...

This seems unlikely to be the cause.

To confirm whether these servers actually need KB960225 or not, use the file
information in the KB article to check whether the files are up to date:

<http://support.microsoft.com/kb/960225>

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/960225

What Windows 2003 service pack do you have installed?

Harry.
