KB936508 Excel Viewer 2003 Problem

I've tried five times to intall this security update, both from "Automatic
Updates", as well as from Microsoft's web site, but each time I receive an
update failure notification. When I tried to update from microsoft.com, the
Excel Viewer 2003 update showed as ZERO bytes, and taking ZERO minutes to
install. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. tcm

There should be an error listed in your Windows Update Log
Start>Run>Type in %windir%\windowsupdate.log
Scroll to the bottom and look for installation errors. Post them if you will.

Is the original installation file for Excel Viewer 2003 still residing
on the system ?
If yes, then download the update from here and Save it:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
Close the browser and any other open programs.
Now install office2003-KB936508-FullFile-ENU.exe

If the answer is no, the update will never install. Uninstall Excel
Viewer 2003 from Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel first.
Then redownload it from :
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en

Create a folder in My Documents and name it Office Viewers. Move
xlviewer.exe to the newly created folder and then install it.
Now install KB936508.

Same goes for any Office Viewer [WordViewer, PowerPoint]
Any subsequent security update for Office Viewers will not install
without the original installation package still present on the system.
