I was just notified I needed about a dozen Windows Vista updates but when I
downloaded and installed them only 4 showed as successfully installed and
the rest all said pending or failed. I did a system restore and installed
them one at a time until I found that KB938371 alone will not install. I did
a quick search and found others that are having 'similar' problems with this
update.

I'm using Vista Home Premium 32 bit and I've never installed the SP1 Beta if
it's of any relevance.

Any advice would be appreciated.

May I also add that after successfully installing all the other updates I've
just installed this update by itself using Windows Update but when my PC
restarted I got the message "Failed To Connect To A Windows Service, Windows
could not connect to the System Event Notification Service etc."

The KB938371 is still showing as 'Pending' and now I'm infirmed I need
KB937287 which I didn't think was meant for Windows Home Premium 32 bit.

Oh well, I'll go ahead and install and see what happens - I just hope I can
do another system restore if it all goes wrong

Also, when I go to Control Panel/ Windows Update

Sorry, the update I'm shown as needing now is KB935509 not KB937287

If you installed an update this morning that causes an event notification
service error to pop up during startup, and this is ****ing you off, I found
that the following:

Sfc /scannow

From the run line in the start menu fixed my problem
