Which Windows version are you using?
Any hints in the "KB943460.log" file to be found in the Windows folder?
Which "security appications" are running in the background?
Are you using any design changing "Transition Packs" and/or 3rd party
themes and the like?

Bye,
Freudi

I am running XP sp2. Security apps are Windows Defender, Max Secure and
Trend PC-Cillian. No third party themes or other. Any suggestions why it
continues to prompt to install this update when it has already been installed
without error several times.

You whish to disable "Max Secure" and your "Trendmirco PC-Cillian"
*completely* while installing any updates. Max Secure "may" also
interfer with Windows Defender.

Well...I disabled all third party security apps found nothing out of the norm
in the Windows folder. It still wants to install again and again and again.
Any other suggestions....

Grmpf, just type a "%windir%\KB943460.log" into "Run" in the Start menu and
hit the [Enter] key or click on OK. Now please copy&paste the *last* 30-50
lines of the LOG file into your reply.

Did you try downloading KB943460 manually and installing it in Safe Mode
of Windows?

Now, did you restart Windows in the meantime? If not, do so please.

Please do me a favour and check the file version of the "shell32.dll"
placed in the \Windows\System32 folder *afterwards* (click on it with
the *right* mouse button, choose "Properties" from the context menu
and click on the "Version" tab afterwards).

Bye,
Freudi

I most certainly rebooted every time. At least 4-5 times. The version for
shell32.dll is 6.00.2900.3051 (xpsp_sp2_gdr.061219-0316)

That's the version wich came with MS07-006 (KB928255) and not
the one which should be there after a successful installation
of KB943460 (MS07-061).

Is still tend to accuse one of "Security Applications" to prevent
the successful installation.

Please try to download KB943460 manually via
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...7-21259c5e5104
and *save* the file (i.e. on the desktop) and *don't* excute it yet.
Afterwards boot into Safe Mode of Windows (see
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315222 how to do this) and execute the
WindowsXP-KB943460-x86-ENU.exe in Safe Mode.

Bye,
Freudi
