Windows version is __________ ?
Assuming this is XP, did you install Windows Script 5.7 ?
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Show hidden files, folders, and system files:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tuto...l62.html#winxp

Using Windows Explorer, navigate to WINDOWS\system32
Locate both jscript.dll and vbscript.dll
Right click them, choose Properties
Click the Version tab
Please post the Versions of both jscript.dll and vbscript.dll.

Windows version?
===========================
Start a free Windows Update support incident request:
https://support.microsoft.com/oas/de...spx?gprid=6527

Support for Windows Update:
http://support.microsoft.com/gp/wusupport

For home users, no-charge support is available by calling 1-866-PCSAFETY in
the United States and in Canada or by contacting your local Microsoft
subsidiary. There is no-charge for support calls that are associated with
security updates. When you call, clearly state that your problem is related
to a Security Update and cite the update's KB number (e.g., KB944388).

For more information about how to contact your local Microsoft subsidiary
for security update support issues, visit the International Support Web
site: http://support.microsoft.com/common/international.aspx

For enterprise customers, support for security updates is available through
your usual support contacts.

There's little documentation on Windows Script 5.7. Suggest you do a
manual visit to Windows or Microsoft Update via the link on the Start
Menu or open Internet Explorer and click Tools, Windows Update [which
will lead to Microsoft Update if the system has been opted in].

However, the Security Bulletin shows this:

Vulnerability Information >
VBScript/JScript Remote Code Execution Vulnerability - CVE-2008-0083 >
FAQ for VBScript/JScript Remote Code Execution Vulnerability -
CVE-2008-0083 :

> What systems are primarily at risk from the vulnerability?

> VBScript.dll and JScript.dll versions below 5.6.0.8835 are used, are primarily at risk.

So, if the Version level of both files are now at 5.7.x.xxxx, then they
should not be *at risk*..
Best to confirm this with either of the MS update sites <w>
