Is anybody else having this problem. First of all the update for KB947172
does not even show up for me in Windows Update. Next, I tried the stand alone
version & it tells me "The update does not apply to your system." The file I
downloaded is Windows6.0-KB947172-x86.msu and my OS is Windows Vista Home
Premium Service Pack 1, v.668. Also, for some reason, the bottom right of my
desktop says Windows Vista (TM) Evaluation copy Build 6001. This OS came with
the purchase of my Acer AM5620-U5210A desktop last Dec. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

Windows Vista (TM) Evaluation copy Build 6001. T
Go into the update section and remove the Vista sp1 that someone loaded
up on your system. And then go to the place that you bought this system
and yell bloody murder that they installed a beta of a service pack on
your system.

Please confirm: You purchased the machine with Vista SP1 (not just Vista)
pre-installed?

Since my kids also you this same computer then I guess that's how it got
there. I am a little confused though. Since SP1 is not out yet where did this
beta version come from? Anyway, it obviously caused no problems (that I was
aware of) except I remember that when I bought the system the OS ver. number
was not displayed at the bottom right of my desktop. How can I get rid of
that? Ever after I took Susan's advice and removed SP1 beta, I still have
that displayed and it now says 6000 beta instead of 6001.

Sounds like your kids had downloaded/installed more than one version of
Vista SP1 Beta, possibly illegal ones from questionable (i.e., unsafe)
sources. Is another Beta listed in Add/Remove Programs now and can you
uninstall it?

A couple of days ago, I lost channel 12.1 and 49.1 (Portland, OR) from my
Hauppage 1600 card in Vista Media Center. They don't appear to be decoding
properly. I believe it is related to the installation of KB974172. Rolling
back did not help either. Can you tell me what the problem is?

FYI, the channels are fine in WinTV. But, I prefer VMC over WinTV. Please
help.

My interest is in your Desktop PC:
CompUsa is goin out of business here in Lubbock, TX and the same Model PC as
yours is $594. Have you had good results with this PC, other than the current
problem?
