KB949074 & error 0x8007006E

Downloaded update KB949074 for Office 2003 - this update reportedly
resolves a problem with the Office Source Engine that may prevent Office
patches from installing properly - but it fails to install with error code
0x8007006e.

Tried a couple of times but same error and also downloaded full file version
from Download centre but this generates Hotfix installer error message
......encountered a problem. We are sorry ....etc. Error report sent.

Any clues to problem and resolution ??????

Thanks for feedback. Been through article to know avail.

LISTool states that the office source engine (ose.exe) cannot be started

I'm also unable to change or remove Office 2003.. I get the message....

"This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch existes and
that you can access it. or contact the application vendor to verify that this
is a valid windows install patch package."

Everything was OK until this update. Never had any problems. What do I do
now.??????

Had afterthought...........ran services.msc and found Office Source Engine
service disabled. Set to Automatic and restarted.

Checked for new updates and this time foind NOTHING !?!. I can only assume
update 949074 is no longer needed (?) Any answers appreciated
