kb956572 issue

I have downloaded and installed this update and it shows up in
Add/Remove Programs as installed--but MS keeps offering it as an update.
Any way of dealing with this?

Using XP SP3. I've downloaded the update after the shield notification.
I also went directly to WU, where it was still offered, and downloaded
and installed it again.

The update notification (shield) keeps coming back after rebooting.
Should I remove this update in Add/Remove Programs and see if I can get
the update again?

Did you try installing the troublesome update in safe mode?

I had the same problem. I called Microsoft at 1-866-PCSAFETY. It's a free
service for security related updates. I told them the KB number, the
problem, and they took over my PC and fixed it remotely. It's a known
problem. They made several changes and about 3 re-boots; now I am no longer
offered the update.
