Using WinXP SP3. Automatic update express install failed twice, Microsoft
update site download failed. No error codes noted.

Any suggestions?

That should read: Microsoft update site downloads failed to install.

The 2 KB downloads no longer show as being needed. I did not do anything to
cause this. Oh, well.

I had a similar issue that Bear was able to resolve below.

McAfee Security Center was blocking KB958215 from completing the update. I
worked around this by temporarily disabling McAfee's Virus Scan, Spyware
Guard and File Guard in McAfee's configuration settings (I kept the firewall
up, though). The update then went through. I'm not sure if it's related to
your problem, but it might be worth a shot?

Good luck.

0x80070005 = Access Denied

One of the most common causes of this error code is the Anti Virus and Anti
Spyware software programs running on the computer.

You can try turning them off and then try the updates again. Keep the
firewall on though.
