This IE 7 "fix" is being presented by Windows Update as a "Important" fix. I
am running IE 8. Luckily I don't never use automatic updates just for this
reason.

I called PC Safety ( 866-727-2338 ) and spoke to a nice girl with a heavy
accent. She imformed me that a IE 8 fix was in the works for this security
issue. I also requested that the problem of Windows Updates wanting to
automatically wanting to install this "Important" update to IE 7 being
offered/done for IE 8 users be reported also. She assured me it would be.

I hope the other IE 8 Beta 2 users caught this before installing it!

Cheers,
David

If you have IE8 Beta 2 installed and the machine's being offered KB958215,
you've got a horked install of IE8 Beta2.

hmmm.... I have been running IE 8 since Beta 2 came out. Never got offered a
IE 7 update before. I just did the Vista SP Beta prior to receiving this
update for IE 7. Perhaps I should contact the Vista SP 2 beta group.

Baby, you're tempting fate running IE8 Beta 2 and Vista SP2 Beta! Pick one
then uninstall the loser.

NB: You may not be able to uninstall IE8 Beta 2 without first uninstalling
Vista SP2 Beta.

If you want to test both, uninstall Vista SP2 & reboot twice; uninstall
IE8B2 & reboot twice; create an Image of the machine; reinstall Vista SP2 &
reboot twice; reinstall IE8B2 & reboot twice.

NB: IE8 Release Candidate 1 is expected in early January 2009.

NB: If you (1) install Vista SP2 and then (2) any IE8 beta build, you may
not be able to uninstall Vista SP2 successfully unless you uninstall the IE8
beta build first.

(If Carl Hiaason was at the door, I'd believe you!)
