I tried to install KB960089 but it failed (XP SP3).

<http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=5dfb7998-0316-40e5-9fc5-7a1afc18e15e&displaylang=en&tm#top>
offers manual download options for 3 different files.

How do I know which one I need?

And how do I know whether I want/need the KB960089 update in the first
place? :-\

Thank you.

Thanks for the info.

I downloaded the x86 version and tried to install it, but the installer
tells me it is version 3077 and I already have 4035 installed.

I wonder why MS Update didn't detect this?

Hi,

It was offered by Microsoft Update but failed to install. I then
downloaded it from the download center as advised.

You can ingore this failure as you've already upgraded to a higher version
than 3077.

This failure is because KB960089(3077) is trying to applying to SP3 4035.
Try re-scan the microsoft update site, the KB960089 shouldn't be offered now.

You encountered this issue is because there is problem with the supersedence
logic of KB960089 and kB955706.

It would have been nice if Microsoft would have informed users that this
download was unneccessary, and also which download to try and download after
the first one failed. I tried all 3 and of course it was the last one I
needed (X86),but failed to download because there was missing files that
needed to be present in order to download this kb960089.
I am trying to fix my Microsoft Security Badge , when I click on it ,the
Security is telling me it hasn't started or has stopped but it does not tell
me how to start it back up again if it is has not started or stopped.
Obviously it must be doing both,(no reason given why it isn't working),and
I thought this update might fix it.
Just a waste of time I guess.

I love how instructions are never given when problems arise.
