KB967715 causes pc to hang

This update causes my pc to hang when I switch on - I can't click on
anything, i.e. "Start" - I have to reboot. Sometimes if I'm lucky after 5
reboots it boots up correctly. I uninstalled it and my pc returned to
normal. This morning it downloaded again and the problem returned. I have
now removed it again and set my Automatic Updates off!! Can I get by without
this fix?

I use Auto Armor, AVG and Asquared, may be overkill but it's worked fine up
to now.

Turn off your AV software, then install the update.
Now turn your AV software back on and reboot.
