Like many others i'm fighting this continous downloading issue with kb967715.

I have auto updates on,but new updates do not install automatically since i
uninstalled kb 967715 to keep it from installing. So,auto install is
inoperative.

Does that mean i have to check and install update manually?

Dick,

Do a search for "kb 967715" in this "Updates" newsgroup and you'll find the
solution to your problem. There were several posts about a month ago.

Well, since this update came out 2 days ago, I doubt if there was a solution
to it a month ago. Maybe something similar though. :-)

I show this on Feb 25 (3 installs) so I Hid it via Custom Dnload "Don't Show
Again" chk box . Believe I Stopped its appearing repeatedly via PA Bear post
on another recurring Update (As follows:

1. Stop the Automatic Updates service:

Start > Run > (type in) services.msc > [OK]
Double-click Automatic Updates > Click on Stop
(Stopping the service will take a moment)

2. Delete the contents of the Download folder:

Start > Run > (type in) %windir%\SoftwareDistribution > [OK]

Open the Download folder and delete its contents Close the window.

3. Go to Windows Update website > Select CUSTOM and allow the scan to
complete > Uncheck/deselect KB(enter #) and hide it ("Don't show me this
update
again").

4. Start the Automatic Updates service:

Start > Run > (type in) services.msc > [OK]
Double-click Automatic Updates > Click on Start
(Starting the service will take a moment)

It keeps reminding me I've disabled an important Dnload, but so be it.

My WSUS shows KB967715 was released on Feb 24, 2009 and revised on March 10,
2009. It's more like 2 weeks ago. Definitely not 2 days ago.

Hi Dick,

I can't answer your question, but, FWIW, I started the Safe Mode process of
getting KB967715 installed, but did not finish. I downloaded it manually,
saved to desktop, then installed from desktop (steps 1 and 2 of Method 3). I
expected to have to boot in safe mode and reinstall, but it has not offered
since 3/9 so I think I'm done. I have had other auto updates since then.
FWIW kb967715 does not show in add/remove pgms.
