KB967715 presented repeatedly as a new update

I have a computer running Windows XP, Service Pack 3. I have automatic
notification of updates turned on. A few days ago, Windows prompted me to
download some updates including KB967715. All of the updates installed
successfully. But Windows has repeatedly asked me to install the KB967715
update again. I have tried again, twice, but it persists in presenting it as
a new update.

When I look at my update history, all three installs of KB967715 are listed,
and all of them are listed as being successful.

I think there must be some failure in the installation, though, because I
have another computer also running XP SP 3, and when I installed this update
on that computer, Windows prompted me to reboot. On this computer--the one
I'm having difficulty with--Windows has never prompted me to reboot after
completing the installation. I have rebooted, but each time I do, the
notification pops up again that I need to install this same update.

Okay, I finally got the update to install successfully. In case this helps
anyone else, I installed it in Safe Mode following the instructions in this
Help and Support article:

(scroll down to "Method 3" under "Troubleshoot the Problem")

I am also having the same problem with the KB967715 update. I've installed it
at least ten times and the log says so. How to I get the shield to disappear
each time I start my computer?

Double-clicked on the yellow shield icon > select Custom > uncheck the
update> check the check box in the pop-up that says something like "Don't ask
this update anymore"

Hope this helps.

My computer has hung the last 4 times I tried to close with the message that
it is installing a downloaded update and it is this update that it is trying
to install. All 4 installations are reported to have successfully been
installed, just as the other folk here. I could not find where this download
was saved so I could not install it myself from the safe mode. I used
'search' and the KB967715 download was not found. I clicked on the download
website listed in this message and cannot find how to save this download.
Sorry to be so dumb. Please help.

Thank you for any help.
