KB967715 - a solution, I think

After still getting the update shield showing, I temporarily exited from
Spyware Detector and disable virus and spyware protection in Macafee Security
Centre, then installed the update from the Windows update site (although it
did say the update was already downloaded to my PC). It would appear the
update was installed (I can't see a "did not complete" message in the
KB967715 log). The shield no longer appears for this update. However, the
Update site does still say I need to install this, although it also shows
I've updated/installed it 4 times!

QUESTION: do "multiple" installs (or attempts at installation) of this
update negatively affect anything?

In another post someone mentioned going directly to the update web site and
downloading the update from there. I did that, took over an hour over DSL,
and the shield is still appearing when I reboot. However, the shield only
shows up when I select start>shut down. I do not see the shield in my tray.

Any other ideas?
