Hello;

Just reading about this update. Was looking at the "Known Issues".

Normally I have no issues with the "Known Issues" however the information
for this update seems a little confusing to me.

What I am trying to understand is the info that states one of the files may
appear not to be signed and the other issue that states the computer might
not be protected if you downloaded the update manually.

The phrase DirectX and DirectShow are both used.

What I am trying to determine is are they simply talking about manually
downloading the security update or are they also talking about downloading
the Directx update manually as well.

I believe all of my XP machines are simply updated with all updates from
Windows Updates. However I think most if not all of the Windows 2000
machines I had downloaded the Direct X installer and updated with that file
from a cd. It was the easiest way when I did those as I had no access to
HighSpeed at the time.

I have many computers and I mean a lot to deal with on this issue not now
but in the fall. I have All versions of XP and I also have Windows 2000 SP4.

So what I am really trying to figure out here is when I do this update how
will I know if the noted file is listed as unsigned without researching
every machine, and by installing DirectX from a cd does that mean I have to
remove it before I do this security update?

I just hope I am reading more into this than necessary.

Thanks
