Keep restarting

I updated windows recently, i think with one of the Windows Defender updates
and then it asked me to restart. I clicked no because i had to finish some
work then i restarted it myself later. When i logged back on the yellow
shield was still there and it asked me to restart. So when it popped up i
clicked restart. I logged back on and its still there. What's going on?

Reboot required message is generated:-
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\WindowsUpdate\AutoUpdate\RebootRequired

If the key exists the message is generated by WU and it fails to work
further causing [Error number: 0x8DDD0007].

Disclaimer: Modifying the registry can cause serious problems that may

The solution is to remove the key (the reboot required entry only) so there
would be only

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\WindowsUpdate\AutoUpdate
without the RebootRequired entry.
